My KUTX // March 12, 2022

alexalone is an Austin band that describes its music as “soft songs played loud.” The group’s 2021 full length debut, ALEXALONEWORLD, combines the roar of shoegaze with whisper-quiet sections; true to the album title, each song feels like its own self-contained world. alexalone was the first band I got to see live after our grand pandemic hibernation, and I was struck by the group’s dynamic, metal-tinged intensity on stage. But even with the heaviness, alexalone seemed to float above it all.

Ahead of the band’s SXSW appearances, Alex Peterson (guitar/vocals) and Sam Jordan (drums) take over My KUTX as our guest DJs. They play an hour of favorites, which include Outkast, Wilco, Hum, experimental music from their bandmate More Eaze, and more.
