For David Modigliani, a love of storytelling started early in life, listening to the tales told by rappers like Young MC and folk singers like Bob Dylan. David moved to Austin in 2004 to attend film school, and here he’s turned his narrative interest towards politics. His documentary Running With Beto, about Beto O’Rourke’s 2018 U.S. Senate campaign, was a big hit at SXSW and was screened via HBO. In Crawford, David also took a critical look at former President George W. Bush’s “Western White House” in Crawford, Texas.
Now, David is turning to podcasts to tell more personal stories. Pack One Bag tells the true tale of David’s family fleeing fascist Italy at the dawn of World War II. Featuring a love story, plot twists, and the voice acting of Stanley Tucci, Pack One Bag continues David’s interest in compelling narratives.
This week on My KUTX, David is our guest DJ. Through his music picks, he relives some great Austin memories, talks about collaborating with Austin musician David Garza, and digs into the experience of telling stories. Hear My KUTX on Saturday, June 8 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime right here.
