If you hear “Paris” and “Texas” in the same sentence, your first association is probably that of a certain mid-’80s road drama. But there’s another notable French connection right here in town – that of Parisian-Austinite Theo Lawrence. Following Havin’ A Talk – the collaboration with fellow KUTX favorite Melissa Carper from this spring – the certified old soul has been working on his next full-length A La Mode, out early 2027. And in that fashion, Lawrence rolled up to KUTX and rolled out a playlist of vintage R&B, blues, soulm and beyond that makes for a potent dose of nostalgia.
