Erica Shamaly

My KUTX // January 10th, 2026

Plenty of Austinites present their love of the Live Music Capital as a full-time gig. But save for the musicians themselves, few can actually claim their support of the Austin music scene as a legitimate profession. One of those rare characters is Erica Shamaly, The Music & Entertainment Division Manager for the City of Austin.

For Love Austin Music Month 2026, Erica stepped behind the board at KUTX to share some early musical memories and formative familiarities that shaped her dedication to music, plus local legends and the Austin bands who’ve kept the scene alive in more recent years.
