My KUTX: Golden Dawn Arkestra

Austin’s Golden Dawn Arkestra has astral-sized ambitions, from the Sun Ra-referencing band name to the psychedelic bigness of the group’s music. But underneath is an earthy, community-focused pulse, with rhythms designed for dance floors. Darkness Falls On The Edge Of Time, the band’s third album, gets a release at Stubb’s on October 5 that also doubles as an official ACL Fest Late Night Show. This week on My KUTX, the Arkestra’s Topaz McGarrigle, a.k.a. DJ Zapot, gets the party started early with a set that features Nigerian disco, Ghanaian gospel, Japanese psych-rock, and a whole lot more. Hear Golden Dawn Arkestra’s My KUTX on Saturday, September 28 at 6 p.m. or listen at any time in the player below.
