This week on My KUTX, Halloween comes early. Fantastic Fest–the largest genre film festival in the country, featuring dozens of horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and action films from around the world–returns to the Alamo Drafthouse September 21-28, and Lisa Dreyer, the Fest’s Director, is our guest DJ. The Fest’s theme this year is “A Trip To Hell,” so her DJ set is full of spooky music from Danzig and Siouxsie & The Banshees, plus the Austin bands booked for the festival’s opening and closing parties.
In addition to her love of film, Dreyer is a music lifer. Her first job was at a record label, she played in punk bands throughout her youth, and she also worked at the famed Amoeba Records in San Francisco. Alongside the Festival-related songs, Dreyer’s My KUTX features horror soundtrack favorites, Bay Area punk recommendations, and the one song she plays every single day, no matter what. Hear Lisa Dreyer’s My KUTX on Saturday, September 9 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime right here.
