My KUTX: Ryan Holiday

Ryan Holiday

My KUTX // November 6, 2021

For Ryan Holiday, stoic philosophy is not some dusty idea relegated to history class. In several New York Times-bestselling books–including his new work, Courage Is Calling–he demonstrates why stoicism is just as relevant now as it was in ancient Greece. Stoic ideas can guard against anxiety and hubris, and Holiday distills these teachings on his podcast, The Daily Stoic. He’s also the owner of The Painted Porch bookstore in downtown Bastrop, which he started right before the pandemic, testing his stoic mettle.

This week on My KUTX, Holiday is our guest DJ. His picks range from good songs to write to, favorites from Kacey Musgraves and Phoebe Bridgers, and how Iron Maiden got him interested in poetry. Hear Ryan Holiday’s My KUTX on Saturday, November 6 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime in the player above.
