Ones To Watch: Haelos

All this week, KUTX profiles the Ones To Watch—seven must-see artists at SXSW 2016. See more here.

For years, London’s Lotti Benardout, Dom Goldsmith, and Arthur Delaney sang in other bands, but in 2014, they teamed up as Haelos. All three of them sing and write for Haelos, a process that Dom says is refreshing.

“We’ve really enjoyed kind of viewing it as a collective, this whole project. It’s like kind of surrendering a little bit of your own ego to kind of share with everyone else.”

With just a few songs to their name, Haelos have captured worldwide attention. Their sound is a mix of trip-hop and electronic, but there are some other, more creative descriptions. “Our friend over here who runs a music blog coined this term ‘dark euphoria’,” says Dom. “I suppose we’ll just wear that. That sounds good!”

Haelos’ debut album, Full Circle, comes out March 18, right in the middle of SXSW. They may be newcomers, but Haelos already sound like a band that could stick around for a long time. Listen to our feature below, hosted by Jody Denberg and produced by Art Levy.
