Pulitzer Prize-winning musical “A Chorus Line” opened on Broadway in 1975, and is one of the longest-running Broadway musicals in history. “A Chorus Line” portrays 17 dancers auditioning for spots in Broadway’s musical chorus and features an amazing score by Marvin Hamlisch and choreography by Michael Bennett. The musical, which won nine Tony awards, is coming to the Long Center this month as part of the Long Center’s Broadway Series, which Managing Director Paul Beutel spearheaded after Long Center patrons overwhelmingly expressed a desire for more musicals. This particular production has been receiving rave reviews, initially showing at Houston’s long-running Theater Under the Stars, who Beutel teamed up with to bring the musical to Austin.
You can catch “A Chorus Line” in Dell Hall at the Long Center from July 24-28, and we were also lucky enough to have cast members Erica Cenci (Bebe), Karley Willocks (Maggie), Alissa LaVergne (Sheila), and Michael Callahan (Mike), perform a couple of tunes for us right here in our studio.
