Austin is no stranger to traveling musicians. Since the 70s we’ve built our reputation on the talented musicians who flock to the city for the vibrant music scene, but few have traveled as far or worked as hard to get here as Abhi the Nomad. As the son of Indian diplomat Abhi grew up splitting time between Beijing and New Delhi before landing in Southern California for school. Somewhere along his travels, a teenage love for pop punk blossomed into a profound respect for the power and popularity of American rap and hip-hop. Especially the lyrics and production of Kanye West. Unable to stay in the United States after an expired student visa, Abhi move to France where he continued to produce his own brand of witty, groovy, autobiographical hip-hop for a growing online audience. Determined to bring his music back to America, Abhi enrolled in a graduate program at Austin Community College for graphic design and jumped head first into the Austin music scene. Abhi The Nomad stopped by Studio 1A to play a few songs from his new indie hip-hop album, Marbled, out February 9 via Tommy Boy Records. Scroll down to get the goods!
