Abram Shook 6.20.17

From the beaches of California, to the streets of Boston, to the great state of Texas; Abram Shook has been everywhere, man, and his music is all the better for it. The Austin-based musician has been inspired by a lifetime of musical influences; jazz, Brazilian and West African sounds all sneak into his special brand of indie rock. His latest release, Love at Low Speed, was written in the wake of the breakdown eleven-year relationship. It is a deeply personal collection of songs about love, loss and connecting with others. It marks Abram’s first foray into themes of love, previously believing he had nothing to add to a saturated cannon. Love at Low Speed proves otherwise; it is a deep-dug confessional based on years of experience and hard-won wisdom. Influenced by the distinct soundscapes of David Bowie, the album maintains a consistent musical palette; the result is a sweet, cohesive record strung through with sensual grooves and Abram’s tender vocals. Abram Shook came past Studio 1A to showcase some of his favourite tracks ahead of his album release show at Mohawk. Check it out below!
