With a blend of classical and modern music, Alice Ping has helped bridge centuries of music together with her breathtaking viola playing. Originally from California, Ping began her career at the early age of eight and continued with her passion performing with classical musicians such as Donald McInnes and Paul Silverthorne, as well as modern acts like, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Rebecca Perl, and Deltron 3030. Ping now lives here in Austin and is a student under Roger Myers at the University of Texas where she continues to pursue her belief in exposing young people to classical music, in her own notable way.
Alice Ping stopped by Studio 1A and showcased her skills as a musician as she played a few pieces of music. Ping will be performing April 1st at the Bates Recital Hall with the Walton Viola Concerto with The University of Texas Symphony Orchestra, so be sure to get tickets while they are still available. If you missed her performance you can stream it here, on KUTX.
