Artina McCain‘s passion for work as an educator and presenter has advanced her career well beyond solo and chamber performance.
Over the years McCain has made appearances at numerous prestigious music festivals and released several recordings as a solo artist and as the McCain Duo. McCain has also received a Global Music Award and Austin Critics Table Award for her recording of African-American Spirituals and Art Songs on the Naxos Label entitled I, Too alongside Icy Monroe.
McCain’s research interests include audience building, arts entrepreneurship and performance injury. She has directed several grant supported initiatives to bring outreach concerts to school children in an effort called Raise the Bar. This program has presented concerts to over 1,000 elementary and middle school students around rural Texas communities. As a strong advocate of performance injury prevention, McCain has presented numerous lectures at music teacher conferences, universities, and hosts an annual wellness forum. Dr. McCain has also coached at the Cleveland Institute of Music Summer Chamber festival, Austin Chamber Music Center Academy and Summer Music Festival and appeared as guest artist for the Ennis Arts Commission.
