After a period of inactivity, Austin’s Balmorhea is back together, but not exactly as they were. Over the past eight years, Rob Lowe and Michael Muller built Balmorhea into a six piece band layered with strings and concise complexity. With the newest era of the band, Lowe and Muller have opted to keep the name and pair back down to just a duo for a US and European tour. The group is releasing a reissue of their 2007 self-titled EP with Western Vinyl, a release that shows their success in a simpler setup of guitar and piano.
While other members of the band have pursued other projects, they are still on board for a few new releases. As a full band, Balmorhea has announced a release of two brand new tracks titled “Heir I” and “Heir II” on 7″ peach-colored vinyl. Commissioned remixes of the tracks include one by L.A. based producer Matthewdavid.
Vocalist and violinist Aisha Burns will join Muller and Lowe at their show this Friday October 24 at Central Presbyterian Church. You can hear Balmorhea’s Rob Lowe and Michael Muller recreate tracks off their self-titled release at KUTX’s Studio 1A!
