Bee Caves 4.12.17

Maybe it is our proximity to the sprawling vistas of the South West that push Austin’s Bee Caves to create such big music, or maybe it is the fact that chief songwriters Reed Calhoun and Sam Kearney moved here to participate and draw inspiration from the city’s thriving music scene. Indeed, the breadth of Austin music is apparent in Bee Cave’s epic psychedelic-tinged Americana. Like a traveler cresting a hill to expose stunning panoramic views, their song “Running Back To You” begins with guitar, drums and piano churning their way to a crescendo before dropping into a valley of lush synths provided by Michael Reynolds and throbbing drums courtesy of Jason Gardner.

Bee Caves is setting up shop at the Mohawk this month for a Thursday residency with lots of their friends. Before checking them out at Mohawk take a listen to their recent session from Studio 1A.
