Local punk-rock outfit Big Bill is keeping Austin weirder and weirder. Formed by brothers Eric and Cody Braden in 2011 the crew have expanded over the years and really made a name for themselves around town as a must-see live act. With two EPs and two 7″ under their collective belt this past month sees the release of Big Bill’s much anticipated debut full length; Stand By Your Bill. The album is characteristically punchy and brief; they’ve condensed ten energetic tracks into a digestible twenty-nine minutes. Thick with jangling guitar, consistent drums and hollered lyrics the boys manage to stay true to their playfully intense roots while still expanding their musical palette. Big Bill brought their New Wave absurdism and punk sensibility to Studio 1A ahead of their shows at Hotel Vegas and Spiderhouse. Check out the full session below, then go and see ’em for yourself!
