You’ve been undoubtedly rocking out all summer, and even though school is back in session, that doesn’t mean you have to stop rocking out – at least, that’s what we’re telling ourselves here at KUTX. Luckily, we’ll have raucous rock ‘n roll band Black Pistol Fire in our studio this Thursday to help us all jam our way into the first weekend of the school year. Black Pistol Fire is a Canadian band that currently splits their time between Ontario, Canada and our lovely home of Austin, Texas. Band members Kevin McKeown (guitar/lead vocals) and Eric Owen (drums), who have been best friends since kindergarten, originally played in a band called The Shenanigans in Canada, but felt that they needed a change of scenery and moved to Austin in 2009. Their sound is a mix of classic southern rock ‘n roll and garage punk, and their wild and energetic shows are not to be missed.
You can check out the audio from their live performance in our KUTX studio from this past Thursday, August 29th and get ready for some killer tunes. Starting September 1st, they’ll also be the opening band for KUTX’s free outdoor concert series at Umami Mia Pizzeria, where local bands will play sets every Sunday through November 3rd.
