Growing up performing in a family band in the Midwest before moving to Austin, hers is a traditional and uncomplicated approach to music that is at once elegant and humorous, yet not too shy or delicate. Her last release, Before the World Was Made, was a collaborative effort with another Austin musician, Noel McKay, which was released in 2013. Since then, their collaboration has developed into a full-fledged partnership, with the duo touring together across the country. However, you can find their most recent work individually, with Noel McKay releasing Is That So Much to Ask in 2014, and Brennen Leigh set to release two full-length albums.
You can watch the duo live at the White Horse on February 7th, at El Marcado’s Mystery Monday on Februrary 9th with Beth Crisman, and Brennen Leigh performing solo at the the Buzz Mill on the 14th. You can also stream her music here on KUTX.
