Chicano Batman Stuns in Studio 1A

Chicano Batman performs their latest album, “Notebook Fantasy”

FOLLOW CHICANO BATMAN

Formed in 2008 in Los Angeles, California, Chicano Batman consists of Eduardo Arenas on bass, guitar, and vocals, Carlos Arévalo on guitar and keyboard, and Bardo Martinez on lead vocals and keyboard. Like many of our favorites, they can’t be confined to just one genre. Their sound, although defined as psychedelic soul, includes mixes of funk and indie and draws inspiration from prog and rock, but their main inspiration is Brazilian music, South American rock, and psychedelia.

Since their self-titled debut in 2010, they’ve been on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, played festivals like Bonnaroo, FYF, and Coachella, to name just a few, and just relased their fourth album Notebook Fantasy.

Notebook Fantasy released on March 29, 2024, and it’s far beyond what Chicano Batman has ever created. Produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Death Cab For Cutie), the album exemplies how far Chicano Batman has come in their musicianship. Across 12 songs, the album has their classic mix of cumbia and funk but pushes beyond their previous musical boundaries with emotionally intense love songs, anthems, and space-age psychedelic sounds that will put you in another dimension. The album perfectly captures the intensity of inspiration, and it can be heard in every song, from the smooth funk of “Live Today” to the transcendent chorus of “Fly”. Notebook Fantasy will set you up for a summer of good vibes and peace and love. Get tickets to their tour and experience the album live here!
