One of the great phenomena of life is two legends coming together to combine their juxtaposing sounds and backgrounds to create and bestow a new gif upon the world. In this case, you’re combining California native and Blasters founder Dave Alvin and Texan roots rocker Jimmie Dale Gilmore of Flatlanders fame. Last October, the two hit the road for an abbreviated acoustic tour. What was thought to be a one-off affair has now evolved into a full-on duo and an album by the two comprised of ten covers from some of their biggest influences throughout the last century (including Lightnin’ Hopkins and Woody Guthrie) and a couple of originals to boot.
