Named after the address of a house inhabited by several of the bandmates in the groups’ formative years, Austin quintet Duncan Fellows has traded a house for a tour van, as people from all over the country have flocked to see them perform with Houndmouth, The Drums, Whitney, and play slots at Austin City Limits and South by Southwest. The band acknowledges their charismatic indie-jams, but they also embrace that this perception only represents one side of the coin. As the group begins to grapple heavier situations, they have added more serious layers to their music – and with the release of their latest EP, Eyelids Shut, the band is establishing this double-edged identity with their newfound maturity both thematically and sonically.
The Austin quintet played some songs off of their critically acclaimed EP and chatted with KUTX host Laurie Gallardo ahead of their sold-out show at Barracuda with Sun Seeker. Listen to their live performance below!
