Justin Sherburn and Montopolis are back with a tribute to the father of the classic spaghetti western soundtrack, Ennio Morricone.
Austin composer, producer, and musical director (as well as Okkervil River keyboardist) Justin Sherburn and sextet Montopolis have prepared a show dedicated to Ennio Morricone’s work, following their previous projects involving the documentary film Yakona, as well as the Russian classic Man With a Movie Camera. Under the title “The Return of Draw Egan: An Ennio Morricone Tribute,” the band will be performing selections from Morricone’s output set to the 1916 silent film the Return of Draw Egan, which was rewritten and updated by Elizabeth Jackson and Chad Nichols for the event. For the time being, there is also a caption contest on their website, for those interested in contributing their comedic prowess.
Justin Sherburn and Montopolis will be performing live at the North Door on Sunday, March 8th and you can stream of their music right here on KUTX.
