Mary Gauthier is an unapologetically autobiographical songwriter. Her previous albums largely focus on her early struggles with drugs, alcohol, and homelessness. On her newest, Rifles & Rosary Beads, Gauthier turned that introspection outward for a series of songwriting retreats with American military veterans and their partners.
