Mike McCoy’s Trompe-loeil celebrates the release of the new 11 track LP Eyein’ Lies with a release show at Hole in The Wall on July 26. With Jacob Schulze’s (Richard Buckner, David Garza) powerful and poignant lead guitar riffs, a rhythm section comprised of Austin stalwarts Travis Garaffa (Will Courtney, Picket Line Coyotes) on drums, bass juggernaut Andrew DuPlantis (Son Volt, Meat Puppets), rhythm guitar by David Garrett (Charlie Mars, Faith Healers) and piano and accordion chops coming from the mystical Christine Smith (Marah, Savage Poor) “the trompes” make for an all-star backing band. Combined with Mike McCoy’s plaintive, sometimes snarky songwriting the band makes a quintessentially Austin brand of Americana. In addition, sometime around the release party their song “Believe in the Bees and Trees” will be heard on the cleverly-written latest season of Veronica Mars, now in the Hulu Summer lineup.
