From his early years working at a local record shop in San Francisco to fronting his own band, Nick Waterhouse has made it his mission to recapture the essence of vintage rock ‘n’ roll and R&B. His latest record, Never Twice, does just that, without ever sounding dated or even overly nostalgic. Songs like “I Had Some Money” and “It’s Time” swing into 2016 with over driven horns, raucous backing vocals and woozy organ solos pulled straight from from a 1950s studio session. Nick Waterhouse and his superb band stopped by Studio 1A to play a short set before taking the stage at the new Antone’s Nightclub.
