Nicole Atkins 11.30.17

Great art is born of great struggle and nobody knows this quite like singer-songwriter Nicole Atkins. Born in Jersey but schooled in North Carolina, Nicole has been honing her throaty vibrato and self described “noir pop” for over a decade. After spending several years with the alt-country band Los Parasols, she released her debut solo effort in 2006. Three full lengths later, Nicole found herself at a crossroads; a father diagnosed with cancer, a new city, a husband on the road and a newfound sobriety. It was at this crossroads that she found the inspiration for her latest release, Goodnight, Rhonda Lee. Written in Nashville and recorded in Fort Worth, the album is a nostalgic exploration of pain and redemption. With shades of country-soul and jazz-funk the entire record has a lush, retro flavor. Nicole came into Studio 1A to showcase some of her best stuff, missed the session? Don’t worry we’ve got you covered, check it out below!
