Few Austin artists have done more to support the local music scene than rappers Chaka and Qi Dada. Collectively known as Riders Against the Storm, the husband and wife duo have been on a mission to make Austin a more fun and inclusive city ever since landing here in 2009. Both through their infectious, uplifting brand of hip hop and nonstop activism.
Now, they’re continuing the tradition with Sonik Frootz, a Friday night residency at Antone’s celebrating the relaunch of the Black Live Music Fund. Riders Against the Storm dropped by Studio 1A to give us a sneak peek at some new music and invite listeners to the two final shows of the residency with some of their favorites.
