Austin native Will Courtney hails from a musically driven family with his playwright father, Ragan Courtney, and Grammy award-winning mother, Cynthia Clawson. Will cites both parents as a major influence on his development as a musician exposing him to a variety of artists as a child from Harry Nilsson to Randy Newman. Influences aside, Will focuses on writing music that is above all else, honest. It’s an honesty and humility that can be heard in his soft, wistful singing style and sincere lyrics.

Drawing from a wide range of styles, Courtney’s new album Crazy Love showcases a knack for poignant Americana and folk song craft buoyed by unflinching honesty and realism. Courtney enlisted his backing band The Wild Bunch (Dan Wilcox on lead guitar, Travis Garaffa on drums, and Dave Morgan on bass) and an array of Austin-based musicians to lend a hand including Mike Molnar (The Bellfuries) on guitar. Will’s mother is also featured on the song “Finally” which was co-written by the mother son duo.

You can see Will Courtney at his release party for ‘Crazy Love’ at the Continental Club this Friday 9PM. But don’t worry if you can’t make that show because Courtney will be following up with one at Waterloo Records next Tuesday.
