While we’re already boiling and baking in the dog days of summer, A Giant Dog is turning up the heat with their new record! Sometimes described as Sweet Spirit’s evil twin, the local quintet leans on a rawer punk sound than Sweet Spirit, but with Sabrina Ellis still at the forefront with her powerful vocals. A Giant Dog’s fourth LP, Toy, is set for release this Friday and features some of Ellis’ most interpersonal and telling lyrics – along with the distorted intensity that brings you back to AGD concerts again and again. “Making Movies”, the eleventh of Toy‘s thirteen tracks offers the conundrum of expectations versus realities in a relationship – a bittersweet subject paired with undeniably catchy melodies and rhythms.
