Django Django: “Reflections”

The Scottish group Django Django emerged fully-formed in 2012 with a self-titled debut that merged electronic and dance influences with a knack for Beach Boys-like melody. Some of their more acoustic-driven explorations call to mind the late, great Beta Band, which makes sense: drummer and founder David Maclean is the brother of the Beta Band’s John Maclean.

Like the Beta Band, Django Django looks to expand on their idiosyncratic formula for their second album. Born Under Saturn, out May 4, features “Reflections,” a driving, multi-part song that maximizes Django Django’s candy-colored pop. Even when the arrangement gets more psychedelic, that pulsing beat keeps the song grounded.
