Emily Wolfe: “Atta Blues” (Live In Studio 1A)

“Lately, I find it easier to express myself through guitar strings instead of words,” Emily Wolfe told KUTX’s Laurie Gallardo last week in our Studio 1A. The Austinite debuted with the acoustic Director’s Notes in 2012, but each subsequent release has gotten louder and more electrified. The shift has coincided with a long road towards sobriety, and that kind of raw emotion comes out in her guitar playing. Wolfe’s new single, “Atta Blues,” is a perfect example, sounding like a cross between Joan Jett and Jack White. Download a Studio 1A version of “Atta Blues” below, and catch Wolfe and her band tonight at Stubb’s on the indoor stage. Doors at 8 p.m.
