Austin’s Garner Sloan is paving the way for a genre he refers to as “Americana Gothic” – a somber amalgamation of roots, rock, folk and blues. Originally from Coleman, Texas, Sloan’s songwriting draw as much influence from Cormac McCarthy and Edgar Allan Poe as it does Tom Waits and Townes Van Zandt. Balancing a life of touring with his band and solitary songwriting, Sloan is set to release his full-length album, Liquid Sails & Bobcat Tales, on May 27th before hitting the road in June. For a sneak preview of his dark world, check out the second track from Liquid Sails, “Bad Tidings”.
Garner Sloan plays live in our Studio 1A on Thursday, May 25 at 3 p.m. and at Stay Gold on Saturday, May 27.
