After moving to Miami from Puerto Rico in 2010, brothers June Summer and Augie Pink formed a band called Plastic Pinks. Fellow Boricua and garage-punk extraordinaire AJ Dávila produced Plastic Pinks’ 2015 debut, Sunnyside Rabbits, and now the band is back with a new EP made under some pretty scary circumstances. Summer underwent back surgery earlier this year, but the recuperation was fruitful. The band recorded twenty-four songs, which were whittled down to the six that appear on the El Animal EP. With its blistering guitar solos and gleeful energy, “My Frenzy State” perfectly captures Plastic Pinks’ hectic year while still pointing the way forward.
“My Frenzy State” appears on El Animal EP, out now. Plastic Pinks play Hotel Vegas on Friday, November 25 and Sunday, November 27.
