Oakland’s Shannon and the Clams are like experiencing doo-wop through acid lenses. To top it off, they bring as much to the table visually as they do sonically, playing-up the exaggerated 1950s style with a wardrobe color palette to satiate your thirst for some fresh psych-wop.
“Oh Louie” lends a little more to surf-rock rather than doo-wop. It’s laidback and happy, perfect for soundtracking your next get together. This tune in particular alternates emphasis between the unison vocals and a blend of exotic drums with a surf-rock melody.
“Oh Louie,” recorded live at Sound On Sound Fest, also appears on Sleep Talk, out now.
