The Head & The Heart formed by happenstance at the Conor Byrne pub in Seattle. A series of open mic nights attracted the various members, all of whom moved to Seattle within months of meeting each other. The group’s DIY spirit–from self-recording to self-releasing their debut album in handmade denim sleeves–soon put them on a national stage, leading to tours with My Morning Jacket, Vampire Weekend, the Walkmen, and more.
Last year, the Head & the Heart released their second effort, Let’s Be Still. It’s a bigger affair, reflecting the band’s grander ambitions. They’re a full-on rock band at times, pouring their multi-part harmonies into something that could carry at the biggest of festivals. The Head & The Heart capped off a great day at the Four Seasons last Friday, and we’ve got a track from that live performance as your song of the day.
