Much of legendary country singer-songwriter Chip Taylor‘s biography reads like fiction. He is probably best known for penning hits as a staff writer for CBS’ Blackwood Music – it’s Taylor who we have to thank for tunes like “Wild Thing” and “Angel of the Morning.” He then went on to have a fairly successful musical career of his own, recording a slew of albums in the 70’s, then taking a break in the 80’s to become a professional gambler. He was a notorious card counter, earning both third place in the World Black Jack Championship in Vegas and a ban from every casino in Atlantic City. Taylor returned to recording music in 1996 and has been doing so steadily ever since. His 2009 album, Yonkers, NY, earned him a Grammy nomination for best recording package. Recently, he released a new album, Block Out the Sirens of this Lonely World, which has already earned a good amount of praise.

Tomorrow at 11am, Chip Taylor will be in Studio 1a, playing live on KUTX. Be sure to listen in!
