Bono Named for Glamour’s Women of the Year List
In a controversial and unprecedented move, Glamour magazine has named Bono for Glamour’s Women of the Year list. The magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive explained that Glamour has been considering naming a man on the list for years with the mindset that there are a lot of men in the world “doing wonderful things for women these days. Some men get it and Bono is one of those guys.” Leive further explained that their decision to specifically include Bono primarily based on his One campaign that spent all of last year on a “Poverty is Sexist” movement spotlighting the worldwide phenomenon of impoverished women and refused education. Bono accepted the honor with grace and appreciation, contending that the battle’s just begun and more men must take action, saying “we’re largely responsible for the problem, so we have to be more involved in the solutions.” Bono joins a list that this year also includes Miuccia Prada, ISIS kidnap survivor Nadia Murad, and Black Lives Matter activists Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi.(CoS)
