I Still Miss Liberty Lunch Event Becomes A Day to Remember

Last Saturday, the ABGB hosted I Still Miss Liberty Lunch, a celebration, remembrance, and fellowship from those who, well, still miss Liberty Lunch. Live music was the nucleus of the event that went from 5 PM until well after midnight. The line-up was stacked with groups who had played various eras of the venue’s history including Fastball, Wild Seeds, the Reivers, and Javier Escovedo. The event’s silent auction raised thousands of dollars for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians thanks to a silent auction and “pass-the-jar” style donations. At its core, the event was about coming together to remember not only Liberty Lunch, but those who helped make it a success who have passed in the recent years. All in all, I Still Miss Liberty Lunch was everything its presenters hoped it would be, and so much more.

Mike D Moves Into Men’s Handbags

Beastie Boys co-founder Michael “Mike D” Diamond, is stepping foot into the world of men’s fashion, specifically, men’s handbags. And he’s collaborated with L.A. designer Claire Vivier to do so. Mike D says he was inspired to create a line of men’s handbags after working with French duo Cassius earlier this year, saying their elegant French bags made his backpack feel inferior. The collection is the first venture into man’s fashion for designer Claire Vivier, calling it the Mike D X Clire V line, and includes a wallet, laptop case, and bandanas. How much will it cost you to own one of these minimalist man bags? About $550.
