Ambitious, Bold and Kinda Crazy

It is crazy. And it’s one for the books.

David Ramirez is well aware of the gargantuan task at hand. But in a video posted on his Instagram, you can almost hear the mind wheels spinning furiously as he takes it on with the fervor and determination of – well, someone who loves making music. If you’ve ever seen Ramirez perform live, you know you’re in for something tremendous this Saturday night at The Far Out Lounge and Stage.

Ramirez has assembled a six-piece band to record a live album in front of an audience. The set will include 35 songs selected from five full-length albums and three EP’s, spanning over 15 years’ worth of music. Ramirez describes the project as “a home-turf retrospective in front of a home-town crowd” that he’s had in the back of his mind for quite some time. It’s now about to become a reality.

It’s best to arrive early for tomorrow night’s show. Doors at 7 p.m., and the music begins with a performance at 8 p.m. by outstanding Austin duo by-way-of-D.C., US!, fresh from their recent stint with Sir Woman at Newport Folk Festival; followed by the glorious pop perfection that leaves you swooning, Star Parks, at 9 p.m. Ramirez and his ensemble take to the stage at 10 p.m.
