Eight Arms To Hold You

It had been awhile since local electro-indie outfit The Shears had released any new tunes, but the wait is over. Check it out – that huge, electrifying octopus rearing its tentacles round the corner. Voila! Behold From the Ashes, eight fab new tracks and a special Gobi remix of “Eden City.” These are some undeniably massive dance-pop grooves kicking throughout, produced by Shears’ guitarist and synth-player Aaron Blackmar.

And that killer aforementioned suction-cupped cephalopod gracing the album’s cover? He’s an impressive presence thanks to the original artwork by vocalist/songwriter Inne Aguilar – who also created a spectacular black light-activated octo for the band’s release show tonight at Stubb’s, 801 Red River. They’re playing the indoor stage, along with dark dance-pop masters Mobley and Afro-delic trip-hoppers The Digital Wild. Doors open at 9 p.m. Prepare to dance the entire time. If not, you must not have a pulse. Recommended.
