For Our Musicians

To keep our vibrant and talented music scene alive, we need to take care of our own. That’s the foundation of all the work that the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) dedicates itself to year round, and why more and more musicians have come to rely upon HAAM for its support.

HAAM provides access to affordable health care for Austin’s low income, uninsured, working musicians, with a strong focus on prevention and wellness. And each year, they organize a citywide fundraiser to help spread the word. During the nationally-recognized HAAM Benefit Day event, Austinites have the opportunity to support local musicians by visiting participating businesses who donate a percentage of their day’s proceeds to HAAM, and catching all kinds of live music performances at many different locations throughout Austin.

Just pay a visit to HAAM’s Benefit Day website for the list of artists playing, performance times and locations. HAAM Benefit Day continues through the rest of today and tonight, so there is plenty of time to show your support!

Featured on today’s Austin Music Minute is recent KUTX Artist of the Month Sweet Spirit, whom you can see this evening at 7 p.m. at Waterloo Records, 600-A North Lamar. A few more AMM recommendations for you to check out tonight include The Ghost Wolves, The Well and Ringo Deathstarr at the Palm Door, 508 E. 6th St.; Alien Knife Fight at C-Boys Heart & Soul; The Bluebonnets at The Townsend, 718 Congress Ave.; and a whole bunch of greats at The High Road, 700 Dawson Rd., from 6 to 10 p.m., including Jon Dee Graham & William Harries Graham, Bonnie Whitmore, Jaimee Harris and many more.
