It’s totally understandable if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed with all there is to see at SXSW this year. But the Austin Music Minute would like to step in and offer at least a couple of recommendations to get you on the right track. All this week, AMM will feature official showcases and those off the beaten path. And, as always, we’ll include a mix of local talent and traveling artists. Here are a couple of previews for tomorrow:
– Here’s an AMM favorite that always has a superb line-up. Producer Danny Reisch and The Navigational Society are presenting their day party Tuesday at Empire Control Room, 604 E. 7th St., and they always have an impressive combination of local and touring acts that Reisch has worked with in his studio. Doors open at noon, and that’s also when the music starts, so plan to arrive early. Mad love for this year’s bands! On the Garage stage: The Black and White Years (4:30 p.m.), Marmalakes (3:45 p.m.), Walker Lukens and The Sidearms (3 p.m.), Brass Bed (2:15 p.m.), Inner Oceans (1:30 p.m.), Crooks (12:45 p.m.), and Feufollet (noon). On the Control Room stage: Shivery Shakes (4:30 p.m.), Wild Adriatic (3:45 p.m.), Tacks, the Boy Disaster (3 p.m.), StaG (2:15 p.m.), A. Sinclair (1:30 p.m.), Lord Buffalo (12:45 p.m.), and Buttercup (noon).
– In the evening, head on up to the 512 Rooftop, 408 E. 6th St., for a show that’s got more than enough soul and rock to blow you away. Starting out the night at 8 p.m. is The Peterson Brothers Band, followed by soul artist Bobby Patterson (9 p.m.), Kool and Together (10 p.m .), Akina Adderley & The Vintage Playboys (11 p.m.), Otis the Destroyer (midnight), and The Rocketboys (1 a.m.).
It’s only just begun. More recommendations are on the way. Stay tuned.
