My KUTX: Michael Winningham

Michael Winningham spent years with a handful of Austin bands, from the crunchy indie-rock of the Glass Family to the orchestrated folk-pop of Gold Beach, and his latest project is a pretty big change in direction. Palo Duro mixes funk with synth-pop on its first single “Darken The Glow,” and a debut album is forthcoming via Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Records.

In this freewheeling guest DJ set, Winningham digs deep into his musical influences, connecting the dots between mysterious Nigerian funk, David Bowie’s sound and vision, and Kanye’s experimental side. Tune in on Saturday, April 1 at 6 p.m. or listen anytime at the bottom of the page.
