Aaron Behrens returned to invite us on a different musical Midnight Stroll.
Former lead singer of Austin’s bold and brash electronic pairing Ghostland Observatory, Aaron Behrens’ new musical vehicle is a rock ‘n’ roll affair, a flurry of electric guitars and gripping hooks, all ambushed by Behrens’ familiar and perpetually powerful vocal wail. After Ghostland’s announced hiatus and a much needed break, the Midnight Stroll initially came to life including Jonas Wilson, Alex Schroeter, Don Clark, Sweney Tidball, and Jason Frey in its line-up. Inspired by the classic sensibilities of glam and soul and built on top of a set of acoustic demos, last fall’s self-titled debut EP was a declarative change in sound, subtler in delivery, but by no means tame and catchy as ever. Aaron Behrens & the Midnight Stroll has just released their latest single “Losing My Mind,” a guitar-driven rollick with Behrens’ contorting vocals becoming a guide into a hook-filled pit of instability.
You can catch Aaron Behrens & the Midnight Stroll’s live set at Scoot Inn this Saturday, July 18th, and you can stream their music right here on KUTX.
