Croy & The Boys 12.6.17

Local outfit Croy and The Boys are a little bit country sway, a little bit honky-tonk and a whole lot of toe-tapping good times. Frontman Corey Baum hadn’t set foot outside of his hometown Bowling Green, Ohio until, at the age of 24, he realised college wasn’t his scene; so he packed up his guitar and hot-footed it to Austin. He spent four years writing and performing solo before kicking off Croy and The Boys back in 2014. Last year saw the release of their debut full length, Hey Come Back, which showcased the crew’s muscular brand of midwestern country; all held together by Corey’s lazy croon and that classic still-survivin’ sensibility. Croy and The Boys have been selected as a 2017 Black Fret Nominee and will be performing as part of the Fourth Annual Black Fret Ball on December 9 at the Paramount Theatre. Black Fret is a public charity headquartered in Austin whose mission is to empower musicians to create and perform great new music. To date, Black Fret has awarded $500,000 in grant dollars to local Austin artists; these dollars are unlocked when artists write and perform new music, or work with other local non-profits. Black Fret grants have resulted in 332 U.S. tour dates, 197 recorded songs, 111 charitable performances and countless other advances. The Black Fret Ball is a showcase of all the 2017 nominees; including Mobley, Black Pistol Fire, Whiskey Shivers and many, many more. All members are invited to join for a night of music and merriment. We were lucky enough to have Croy and The Boys in Studio 1A ahead of their performance this Saturday at Paramount.
