Conceived in a musician abundant Northeast Austin neighborhood giving it its namesake, East Cameron Folkcore (ECF) pieces together 11 or sometimes more artists from different genres such as folk, punk, country and blues to create their predominantly politically themed, unique sound. Starting as an experiment in 2008 for grunge blues artists Jesse Moore (Bankrupt) and Jon Pettis (The Borrowers) to unleash their love for folkier songwriting, after 3 albums the band has received widespread praise expanding beyond the boundaries of their hometown. After being named one of the top ten local Austin acts of 2012 by The Austin Chronicle, ECF went on to have their newest album For Sale, released February 2013, to be featured by MTV Hive, AMP Magazine, American Songwriter, Texas Monthly and many more. ECF now makes a homecoming to not only perform live in studio 1a on May 21st from 1-2:30pm and at the KUTX Live Music Series at Uncle Billy’s on May 25th, but also to do a variety of shows in Austin throughout the summer before they take off on a tour across Germany in August. Some of these local shows include: the North by North East Fundraiser at Banger’s on Rainey St. on June 5th, the Folk of July Festival at the historic Scoot Inn on July 5th, and a final performance with Country Willie and Lord Buffalo at The White Horse on July 26th. If you’re ready to unleash your political unrest and get loud and rowdy to a stage jam packed with guitars, trombones, mandolins, cellos, banjos and musicians of all types, make sure to not miss out on East Cameron Folkcore this summer.
