Gabriel Garzón-Montano 09.27.18

Born in Brooklyn as a first-generation American, Gabriel Garzón-Montano’s musical style is an alluring culmination of his French and Colombian identity. His aesthetic borrows from classical Bach compositions to lively cumbia roots–often topped off with a revived funk sound. Montano does not hesitate to fuse multiple dimensions of instrumentalism, including the tracking of drums, bass, guitar, piano, and several layers of his own vocals. In 2017, he released his debut LP, titled Jardín, which was quick to receive praise from critics and fans alike. His aim was to assemble music that showed the beauty of life and the exhilaration of growth, much like that of a garden. Earlier this year, he released the single, “Golden Wings”, an upbeat track that illuminated his pop sensibilities and left his audience wanting more.

Gabriel came into our very own Studio 1A and performed three songs of his and shared a bit about the interworking of his artistry. You can check all that out and more below!
