Musician Monte Montgomery‘s versatility on acoustic guitar is a dizzying display of musical skill.
The guitarist, singer, and songwriter’s impressive musical journey took off right here in Austin, his proclivity for melody growing alongside his revered ability ever since his debut EP was released in 1990. Known for his non-traditional technique, Montgomery has gone on to receive numerous accolades, including earning the title of Best Acoustic Guitarist at the Austin Music Awards seven years in a row and a spot on the list of Top 50 All-Time Greatest Guitar Players. Montgomery’s most recent release, 2012’s Tethered, saw him furthering his skills as a songwriter, his intricate guitar work creating a rich backdrop for his raspy vocals, offering up melodies ranging from heartfelt pop to steady rock.
