The Trishas at KUTX 2.7.12

The Trishas

Austin country/folk band The Trishas first shared a stage together in early 2009, just to play a couple of songs in honor of band member Savannah Welch’s father, songwriter Kevin Welch. They didn’t have a name at the time, simply calling themselves The Trishas because they were covering a Trisha Yearwood song penned by Mr. Welch. Something must’ve clicked among the four women, because they decided to stay together and do it again and again. Eventually, the band was noticed by Raul Malo and Ray Wylie Hubbard, who both asked the group to record and perform with them. One thing led to another, eventually leading to the release of their debut album, High, Wide and Handsome, last August.

Tomorrow night, The Trishas will play a show at the Cactus Cafe. You can also hear them live on KUTX tomorrow afternoon at 2pm. Don’t miss them!
