Levitation Fest 2021 Preview

My KUTX // October 16, 2021

Over a decade ago, Alex Maas and his Black Angels band mates started Austin Psych Fest. But since changing the name to Levitation in 2015–honoring fellow Austin psychedelic pioneers the 13th Floor Elevators–the festival has expanded beyond its genre-based roots. For Levitation 2021, psychedelic music now includes Thundercat’s Grammy-winning funk-jazz, Japanese Breakfast’s modern indie-pop, Chicano Batman’s Latin soul, the Hives’ clean-cut garage punk, the Octopus Project’s electronic wizardry, and plenty more.

With Levitation touching down October 27-31 at various venues around Austin’s Red River Cultural District and Eastside, Maas returns as our guest DJ to preview this year’s stellar lineup. Single show tickets are on sale now, and learn more about Levitation’s COVID policy here.
